I am not planning a Wedding anytime soon, but I am celebrating my very 1st Valentine's Day! I have never had a real, 100% Valentine's dinner, date, nor reason to celebrate my love with my sweetheart. With that said, I wanted to make this very 1st Valentine's Day extra special! As a creative little Brownie, I figured why not incorporate my love for film photography and my 1st Valentine's Day in a roll of love? :wink: Hope ya'll enjoy the Step by Step of this nifty little project with a a Brownie touch.
Materials: A scissor, tape, a pen, Vellum paper or construction/inkjet paper, a roll of used film.
Step 1: Gather all the above mentioned materials. I'm highly obsessed with Uniball pens and vellum. There's something so simple and romantic about vellum. However, you can use any type of paper that is thin enough to fit inside the roll of film & can easily flow through the film as you roll it in. (See Step 4.) As for the used film roll, contact your local photo department at any pharmacy or photo shop. I just asked the photo tech and voila. You may also buy a roll of film or disposable camera. But why not keep it eco-friendly? Recycle!
Step 2: Using a paper cutter board cut 1 sheet of vellum paper into 3-4 strips. Each strip is about 1 inch wide. Don't fret, if you go a wee bit past an 1 inch the world will not end. The gist of it all is to make it perfectly imperfect. When you're all set with your strips write your lovely message to your Babycakes. Make sure to pre-write your message to prep for your final words. Above is my lovely Valentine's Day message to my sweetheart Eddie.
Step 3: It's now time to tape your strips together. Cut/tear a small piece of tape, about 1/2 an inch. You do not want too big of a piece nor small. Your goal is to get a good enough size to hold the strips together but not get stuck as you roll it in the canister. Make sure your writing is upright. (Facing the sky.) Tape the piece behind the end of each strip and tape each strip together. *Make sure to NOT add tape to the front of the 1st strip with the beginning of your message.
*In the message to Eddie, I did NOT add tape to where the sentence "Eddie.." started. That was the beginning of my message. I added my 1st piece of tape to the end of that strip/sent. The part where "Eddie..." starts is what will stick out of my roll of film.
Step 4: Now that you have your message all 'stripped' down, :chuckles: Add a last piece of tape to the end of the last strip with your message. Make sure your writing is still facing up. Tape it to what's left of the used film strip. Most places will leave a tiny strip of film strip at the very end when they develop. Make sure to press firmly on this piece of tape. All done? Start slowly reeling in the strip by turning the knob counter-clockwise. With a little patience and minor tugging the strip will magically flow in smoothly.
The final product is insanely adorable! Leave a bit of the strip peeking out of the roll of film and add a super fun message to reel out your awesome message!
